2025.12.1712:04:33UTC+00Natural Gas Prices in Europe Remain Around €27

European natural gas prices remained steady at approximately €27 per megawatt-hour in December, marking some of the lowest levels since April 2024 and showing a 45% decrease over the year. This stability has been influenced by record-breaking exports of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from the United States and consistent supply from Norway. The US has increased its LNG exports to about 14.9 billion cubic feet per day, a rise of 25% compared to 2024, as reported by the Energy Information Administration's latest Short-Term Energy Outlook. Meanwhile, Norway has maintained a robust pipeline delivery to Europe, with nominations reaching about 347 million cubic metres daily, the highest since August 2024. However, predictions of dropping temperatures and calmer winds across Europe as January approaches are projected to heighten heating demand. Additionally, the European Union's gas storage facilities are reported to be 69.92% full, a decline from the 77.91% recorded at the same time last year. Further adding pressure to the LNG market, operations at one of the three liquefaction trains at the Freeport LNG export facility in Texas were halted on Tuesday.
